On Saturday, September 25th, GHSP received 5th place for The Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes and 7th place for the entire State of Michigan. The metro Detroit location, which took place at the Detroit Zoo, was 1 of 210 walks nationwide.
Planting Trees on Arbor Day Shanghai, China – To encourage people to take care of the forest and contribute to the environment, GHSP Shanghai actively participated in the “Planting Trees” activity sponsored by the local government on March 12th. Through this activity, GHSP hopes to get more people to not only understand, but also involved in the improvement of the ecological environment, which will benefit the next generation.
On June 18th 2012, GHSP Shanghai North Plant held a Grand Opening Ceremony to celebrate moving in to a new, larger plant. The new plant is more than double the size of the previous plant. The ceremony started at 9:55 am (Beijing, China), four people gave speeches; Davy Ou, General Manager GHSP China, Jeff Smith, GHSP Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Mayor of AnTing town, Mr. Yuan and Barry LeMay, JSJ Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. JSJ is GHSP’s parent company.
The GHSP Community Stakeholder team strives to support the communities where GHSP does business, to have a positive impact on the environment, and to be actively involved in educational programs. These ambitious goals were developed by a company that takes pride in its community service efforts.
On April 14, GHSP Hart helped out in the fight against hunger as 35 volunteers gathered at the Hart Public Schools parking lot to hand out food to those less fortunate. The group also filled out 195 cards and gave them to those who came to receive the food. Many of the cards were filled out for multiple families. Over 345 adults and 315 children benefited from the generosity of the GHSP employees, who helped distribute 10,132 pounds of food from the Feeding America food truck.
The Greater Ottawa County United Way organization announced tonight that it had selected JSJ and its businesses for its most prestigious annual award for philanthropy, volunteerism and community engagement.
On March 6, 2012, GHSP Hart held a Quick Hit Display Board Competition. The purpose for the competition is twofold. The first and most important reason is to recognize and congratulate the teams on their continuous improvement accomplishments, which means stepping out of their comfort zone, learning new problem solving skills and ultimately saving GHSP money.
On January 10, 2012, much planning and preparation came to an end as GHSP Shanghai South moved to a new 58,405 sq.-ft. (5,426 sq.-meters) facility in the Qingpu District. This is a significant milestone for the company and was celebrated with a grand opening ceremony.
On December 30, 2011, five GHSP employees (Jennifer Ding, Maggie Wang, and three others from operations) went to Qingpu Senior High School for the second year in a row to present scholarships to five of their students. Each student was also very happy to receive a “Best Wishes” card signed by every employee from both Shanghai North and Shanghai South facilities, which encouraged the students to always work hard and set challenging, but realistic goals for themselves.
GHSP, a worldwide supplier of mechatronic products to the automotive industry, grew faster than the industry in 2011. GHSP moved into two new facilities (see below) during the year. They also added more than 190 new jobs in 2011. Of that increase, 90 new jobs were added across GHSP’s three Michigan facilities, 70 new jobs were added in its two facilities in China, and 30 new jobs were added in its new facility in Mexico.
